The area around Lake Omulew is perfect for exploring on foot. You can take a short walk through the forest, follow the Koniuszanka II educational loop, or plan a much longer hike along the red Around Omulew Trail.
The best-known route circles the lake and runs partly along dirt, asphalt, and paved roads. Along the way, it approaches the shores of Lake Omulew and Lake Trzcinowe and passes through nearby villages and forest complexes.
If you would prefer a brief encounter with nature rather than an all-day trip, the Koniuszanka II Forest Trail in the Wykno Forest District is a good choice. It is a circular loop approximately 2.5 km long, also designed as an educational trail.
Why Is It Worth It?
The greatest advantage of these routes is their proximity. There is no need to organize a special trip or drive dozens of kilometers—the forest and trails are part of Omulew's immediate surroundings.
You can tailor your walk to the weather, your fitness level, and the time available. One day you can complete a short forest loop, and on another, set out for several hours around the lake.
It is also a good alternative to spending the day on the water—especially in the morning, late afternoon, or outside the main summer season.
What Will You Find There?
Around Omulew Trail
A red-marked trail leading around the lake. Available tourist sources state that it is approximately 28 km long. The route runs partly along dirt roads and partly along asphalt and paved roads, in places passing close to the shores of Lake Omulew and Lake Trzcinowe. It is primarily an option for a longer hike or a bicycle trip rather than a simple one-hour walk.
Koniuszanka II Forest Trail
A short loop of approximately 2.5 km in the Wykno Forest District, near Lake Omulew. Educational features dedicated to local wildlife and forest management have been placed along the route. There are also impressive protected heritage oak trees in the Koniuszanka area.
Short Walks from Zacisze
You do not need a marked trail for a quick walk. Simply leave Zacisze in the direction of the nearby forest roads and complete a short loop through the forest. It is best to use a map on your phone to keep track of the route.
Omulove Tip
Choose Koniuszanka for a short walk, and save the Around Omulew Trail for a day when you are truly in the mood for a long hike.
For longer routes, download an offline map before setting out. Mobile phone reception may be weaker in the forest, and some routes intersect with local forest roads.
Exercise particular caution after strong winds or a storm, as fallen trees and broken branches may be present in forested areas.
