The Trail Around Lake Omulew is one of the most interesting cycling routes in the immediate vicinity of Zacisze. The loop runs around Lake Omulew and lets you see the area from a completely different perspective than from a pier or boat.

The route runs partly along dirt roads and partly along paved and hardened roads. Along the way, you will ride through forests, small villages, and sections close to the shores of Lake Omulew and Lake Trzcinowe.

This is not a typical paved cycle path. That is precisely what gives it a more distinctly Masurian character, and it is best suited to a trekking, gravel, or mountain bike.

Why Is It Worth It?

Above all, because you do not need to travel anywhere to get started. Simply get on your bike at Zacisze and begin your trip right away.

The scenery changes constantly along the way—you may be riding through a forest one moment, only to encounter a lake, fields, or a small village the next. This means that even a ride lasting several hours never becomes monotonous.

It is also a great way to see the whole of Lake Omulew and gain a better sense of how large and diverse its surroundings are.

From Zacisze, you can set off around the lake in either direction. The loop itself has no major elevation changes, so the direction does not really matter—simply choose whichever one suits you best.

Bring water and a basic repair kit, and download the route for offline use before setting off. Mobile reception may be weaker along some forest sections, and the surface can become more challenging after rain.

For this route, it is definitely better to choose a trekking, gravel, or mountain bike rather than a typical city bike.
